Tom Lumley & The Brave Liaison release ‘Fake Friends’ and announce their debut album.
Tom Lumley & The Brave Liaison have gained great momentum since they exploded onto the scene with ‘Chardonnay’ in 2019. They have since gained frequent support from Radio X and BBC Introducing, recently graced the stage at Tramlines and Pennfest and now they are ready to unleash their debut album ‘Everything’s Affected’ on October 22nd.
Last Friday the four-piece brought us a taste of the record with new their new single ‘Fake Friends’, yet another powerful track that follows recent releases ‘Shrink’ and ‘Crawling’. The new record will be their biggest yet and if recent single releases are anything to go by, we’re in for a treat!
‘Fake Friends’ is a massive rock and roll track that follows suit with the bands anthemic sound. It starts with gnarly guitars and strong vocals that build loads of tension before a huge signature chorus. With huge riffs and relentless energy, the quartet really hold nothing back.
Lyrically the track is about the false nature of social media, the band commented: “‘FAKE FRIENDS’ casts a speculative view over the online relationships between someone in the public eye and their thousands of followers. All of the trivial interactions between a person and their followers which ultimately mean nothing but are done simply to boost “interaction”. The song asks the question as to how many would still be there supporting them if they fall behind what is current.”
