LIINES – ‘Keep On Going’ / New Single

It’s been a while since we heard from LIINES, but now they are back with a new banger single ‘Keep On Going’. Well, what can I say? The wait was more than worth it.

LIINES are a post-punk trio from Manchester that create infectious sound. They’ve been voted Breakthrough Artist 2020 by the Manchester Evening News’ Citylife Awards. If you listen to their music, you’ll know why. LIINES are one of my favourite bands from Manchester, and one of those bands you hope will be headlining all the big festivals.

Their new release ‘Keep On Going’ is an electrifying two-minute post-punk ride, and the perfect starter to follow on their success of the recent years. Furthermore, it comes with a message that we should all make our mantra.

Singer and guitarist Zoe McVeigh said about the single: “Keep On Going is a call to arms. The song is almost like a mantra – a chant. A reminder to put one foot in front of the other because that’s all you really can do.”

‘Keep On Going’ is exactly what we expect from LIINES – infectious. It starts with pounding drums, then the guitar riff kicks in, and is followed by that unique LIINES-esque bass. The sound is sharp and empowering. We get crushing guitar riffs that evolve as the song progresses. Leila’s smashing drums keep you in a rhythm you can’t escape. The bass is ace as usual. I adore LIINES for their huge bass lines, and ‘Keep On Going’ is no exception. Zoe rounds it all off with her emotional vocals. Everything blends just perfectly. ‘Keep On Going’ sends an important message. The lyrics are kept short and sweet, but they spread that wonderful vibe of positivity: Let’s keep on going!

Drummer Leila O’Sullivan added: “Keep on Going really feels like the right message as we all come out from an awful 18 months and looking ahead to better times.”

LIINES are back on stage and now rocking the show with their new bassist Anna Donigan who joined in March 2020. She has settled into the band smoothly, and it feels like she’s always been playing with them. Her bass skills are fab anyways!

I can’t praise LIINES enough. Their music is straight down the line and to the point. No needless stuff, no nonsense. Just exactly what needs to be there. They deliver a rich sound that’s based on simplicity. It’s powerful and honest, both musically and lyrically.

If you can, go catch them live! There’s so much energy going on when they’re on stage! It’s amazing to see them play! I’m curious to see what the future holds in store for them. Certainly a lot! They deserve all the praise and glory! Go give them a listen, you won’t be disappointed.
