Swiss producer Pablo Nouvelle and UK multi-instrumentalist Kinnship, have returned with a new collaborative single, the final release before the duo drop their anticipated album.
‘Stones & Geysers’ is the fourth single to be dropped from the duo’s forthcoming album – which bares the same name – before fans are treated to the full length album early next month (5th November 2021)
Sonically, the track symbolises a shift from its 3 predecessors and, while building on the releases that have come before, it exhibits a more commercially orientated sound. The track succeeds in carefully consolidating the sounds of its predecessors to deliver a wholesome bedroom-pop triumph, evoking the sounds of Lorde, Tom Misch and Arlo Parks while simultaneously delivering a dreamy and compelling lyric.
The lyrics on the track are as figurative as they are dreamy; Kinnship’s lyricism explores the modern world through metaphorical concepts centred around the natural world as he compares various natural processes to the processes in the human mind.
Speaking about the song’s lyrics, Nouvelle said: “The way we live our city lives spending most of our time indoors, we tend to forget how much we as humans are a part of nature ourselves…Stones & Geysers is about this connection between the spiritual and the physical.”
While both members of the duo are artists in their own right, the pair first emerged as a duo in 2019, with 2021 seeing the pair pen a full length album; the flurry of singles from which have showcased an exploration of each of the duo’s ability, with daring instrumentation from Nouvelle and melodic vocal performances from Kinnship. Their new track sets their sound in stone and represents the peak of their current run of singles, it’s doubtless that fans will be hoping for much of the same come November. If you like lo-fi beats, you’ll dig this.
