SPARKLING – ‘Not The Right Place’ / New Single

Hailing from Cologne, SPARKLING, release their new single, ‘Not The Right Place’. With a debut LP and multiple singles under their belt, it’s pretty apt the trio are no strangers to gaining some pretty sparkling support, earning radio plays from Radio 1 and 6, as well as having their very own Maida Vale session.

An almost acapella type intro kicks things off with vocals centre stage when delivering perhaps its key takeaway, ‘I want to dance to this music / I want to celebrate the life I am choosing’. This arguably comes off the back of the life, the pandemic thrust upon us all. Didn’t we all just want to dance to the music and live the life we wanted?

As the track progresses, we see the introduction of the drums and layering of instrumentals and effects towards the ‘sweat-drenched club sets’ the band are known for, countering the quieter beginning for a sort of resolution which also rears its head lyrically. Transitioning from ‘I dont think this / Is the right time for me’, we see a shift in attitude, perhaps reflecting the shift in restrictions, in ‘Woke up now it’s different / And my dreams are so vivid / I want to dance and live it’, before culminating in ‘This / Is the right place for me / This / Is the right time for me’.

This is further encapsulated in the single’s carefree music video they shot in Paris. The band claim that ‘after such a long time during covid’, they had ‘so much energy’ so ‘to dance and pogo again felt so good’, and that’s clear to see. So, with their new EP,  This is My Life / Das Ist Mein Leben / C’est Ma Vie, out 11th March, be sure to keep up to date with the band on their socials!
