Shobsy – ‘Vanity’ / New Single

Irish artist Shobsy unveils his debut single ‘Vanity‘, a strikingly 80s infused offering. Shobsy’s impressive falsetto vocals are hard to pin down to a single influence, reflecting everything from pop luminaries A-ha and Bronski Beat to contemporary artists such as The Weeknd. It’s a melting pot of styles but it’s what makes up Shobsy’s irresistibly unique sound.

On the surface it’s an upbeat dance floor filler, however, as is the case for many an 80s hit, the propulsive rhythm belies a hidden depth and sophistication. Shobsy explains more about the social commentary that fuels this track:

Lyrically the song deals head-on with the concept of vanity and self-obsession in an age where social media becomes an increasingly integral part of our lives.”

‘Vanity’ also arrives alongside a captivating music video, seemingly inspired by fellow Irishman Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray. Vanity got the better of Dorian Gray and Shobsy warns that nothing has changed, in fact, things are only getting worse.

One thing we’re certain of is that Shobsy carefully crafts innovative and thought-provoking music that will continue to make him stand out with future releases. We can’t wait to see what’s next from this genre-bending artist.
