Bristol-based artist Natalie Holmes has recently unveiled her new single ‘Floating TV‘. The topical track is a taste of the singer-songwriter’s upcoming album Vitamin Be and gives us insight into the perceptive and thoughtful lyricism she has to offer alongside effervescent and cathartic soundscapes.
‘Floating TV’ powerfully expresses the thoughts and feelings most of us are experiencing at the moment but can’t always quite put into words; the forbidding sense that fast-paced consumerism and materialism is ultimately leaving us feeling empty inside. Natalie in her own words:
“I have this ever-present sadness at the way the world is becoming more limiting, constantly feeding us stimulation and keeping us needing or wanting an endless cycle of stuff and achievements. This song is about rebelling I suppose – in a sweet, naive kinda way.”
Musically the track is a delicate blends of folk and pop, with pockets of sweet surprises along the way such as the odd jazz infused vocal line or the twinkle of piano.
