Flu Jabs – ‘Brain Sounds’ / New Single

There’s nothing like a debut track towards (hopefully) the end of a pandemic. One of the latest debuts comes from the very aptly named band Flu Jabs who have released their debut entitled ‘Brain Sounds’.

The disjointed and slightly haunting intro is such a perfect way for band to introduce themselves, as they instantly separate themselves from the pack. Their lo-fi habitat of their sound is instantly discovered, as the track feels really bare. Along with the vocals which sound inspired by the likes of Julian Casablancas and Heather Lewis due to the under-produced nature.

The haunting nature of the track is only heightened with the video, with the hypnotic guitars whirring in the background as with vocals performed by a pink bag with a face on it, even if you didn’t enjoy the music – you would find it interesting.

The song could be misunderstood as lazy, but this is how Flu Jabs intended it. The slow paced melody and lethargic feel of the song plays into the lo-fi sound, making it honest and raw in every sense. As a lover of lo-fi , as soon as my ears locked onto the track I was hooked. Great to hear some more lo-fi bands coming through as you can never have enough of them and their aren’t as many around recently – here’s hoping for more from Flu-Jabs!
