First release of the year from The Vitrines.
The Vitrines are a duo hailing from Southampton whose previous releases have gained them frequent support from Spotify, 6 Music and Radio X. Since forming in 2016 the pair have sold out hometown shows and played the Isle of Wight Festival, ands they’re just getting started!
The impressive indie two-piece are back this week with brand new track called ‘You Give Me Chills’, a ferocious post-punk offering that’s sure to get your head nodding along to the beat. Sonically the track is loud and fast; it features fuzzy guitar melodies, frenetic drumming, brilliant hooks and a catchy chorus.
Lyrically the track is angsty and punk, focusing on a bad breakup. The band commented:
“The track really looks into the possessiveness after a breakup, even if its not justified. It’s like the reaction to seeing someone go out of their way to make amends when you’ve already moved on. We ended up recording it down south with us both constantly travelling around for uni, the track and whatever was happening at the time. It sounds class for a couple of days in the studio.”
Overall, ‘You Give Me Chills’ is a brilliant fusion of punk and indie genres and it encapsulates the band’s overall sound in a two and a half minute energetic single. If you like what you hear why not catch The Vitrines this autumn as they are set to embark on a string of live dates.
