“So Naïve” is the debut single from Fever Dreams, an Indie outfit from Yorkshire. Taking influences from the likes of Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys and Wolf Alice, they emerge from nowhere to deliver one of the most ear-wormy singles of the year.
Written from the perspective of somebody who keeps returning to a toxic relationship, “So Naïve” tackles the ongoing battle between head and heart. Referencing the increasing awareness as well as that massive moment of clarity that snaps them out of it. It’s a convoluted song topic but is filtered through an instrumental that’s filled with bright synth hooks, warm guitar chords and a driving rhythm that really helps it sink into the mind.
Containing the right amount of heartache, it’s an effortlessly catchy song that manages to hang onto you with every listen. Fever Dreams are obviously new to us but have a sound that feels like we’ve been listening to them for ages. It’s got all the highlights of the best of Indie but has a depth that makes it their own.
It’s a great song that hits even sweeter at the tail-end of the summer. Fever Dreams have caught our attention with this debut, and we’re excited to hear where they go from here.
