LAB RAT releases new single “Rolling Loud” // Review

Back with his third single, LAB RAT continues to bring the fury on “Rolling Loud”. The Australian artist dabbles in a mix of Alt-Rock, Grunge and Rap to deliver a sound that’s always on the front foot, and this tune is no exception.

With a new album on the horizon, “Rolling Loud” provides an insight into Dylan James’ story. Speaking of the new single, Dylan says: “This song is an ode to enjoying yourself, losing inhibitions and spending your days and nights being surrounded by messy chaos and enjoying every minute of it”

Boasting a modest time of two minutes thirty, the single gets underway with a raw performance that matches its topic. A gritty guitar riff kicks things off into an instrumental that already burns from both ends, and Dylan’s vocals drop in without missing a beat. As harsh and loud as it is, there’s a vulnerability hidden inside that makes it worth repeating over and over. Dylan does a great job at allowing both elements to do their thing without one compromising the other, and the result is a song that kicks major arse.

As someone who’s currently nursing a hot blackcurrant due to having a cold for two weeks, this song resonates with me. LAB RAT has produced an anthem that absolutely demands to be played loud, and has the depth that stops it coming across as one note. “Rolling Loud” is great, and we’re excited to hear what more he has to offer.
