Patience launch new single ‘I’ll Be Fine’ // Review

‘I’ll Be Fine’ is the new single from Leeds five-piece, Patience. It’s the first to be released this year, adding another station on the train ride towards their debut EP, Third Time Lucky. The EP promises to reflect on the history of the band, who began in 2023 before ‘Whatever It Takes’ launched last year.

Blending together the heaviness of Emo and the chaos of Math Rock, Patience have a sound that’s loud but has a lot of depth. ‘I’ll Be Fine’ eases out of the airwaves with a harmonious synth intro, before ripping into a flurry of guitars that don’t let up. The riffs, melodies and harmonics are all performed simultaneously yet sound distinct from one another. Against the fury of the drums, the song hits hard.

The vocals do a great job at bringing structure to the song. Leading it towards its chorus and having the high notes to match, while still allowing it to sound free-flowing and manic. I really like the way it can slow down for a melodic section and not feel like it’s lost any momentum, or sound totally different from its intro.

Patience are a band that doesn’t sound like it’s in its infancy. ‘I’ll Be Fine’ is a well polished, behemoth of a listen, and I can’t understand how it’s only their third release. It is full of all sorts, and feels like it pulls you in different directions, where each direction leads you to somewhere that sounds good. ‘I’ll Be Fine’ is great, and makes me excited to hear what’s to come from this emerging act soon.
