Download Festival is the leading event for all things Metal, and is firmly established as one of the staples of the Festival circuit. This year, Donnington Park will be headlined by Green Day, Sleep Token and Korn, and house a lineup that looks incredible from top to bottom.
With a carefully curated blend that features staples of the Metal genre alongside newer, Metal-adjacent acts, Download Festival looks set to have one of its most varied and best lineups in years. Across its four stages, there are bands you will not want to miss out on. No matter which side of your taste leans, it’ll be worth the few days of living in a tent and building up that sleep debt.
Personally, we’re thrilled to see blog favourites like Dead Pony, VENUS GRRRLS and Bad Nerves – who are local to us – appear on the bill. These three in particular have been killing it recently with a string of great releases. Personally, we’re most excited to see Weezer, Don Broco, Twin Atlantic, Turbonegro and Neckbreakker, as well as the three headliners. In terms of bands guaranteed to deliver a good time, you cannot go wrong with The Darkness and Eagles of Death Metal.
Speaking of the headliners, Green Day really brought their a-game on last year’s album Saviors, so it would be good to see them bring that same energy to Download. Sleep Token have emerged from the underground to become one of the biggest acts in Metal. Really innovating and refreshing the genre with their left-field sound. Korn soundtracked a lot of our teenage years, so we’re especially excited to see them. To be able to sing along live to the likes of ‘Freak On A Leash’ and ‘Twisted Transistor’ is going to be a joy.
As well as the great music, Download Festival also makes sure there are plenty of food & drink options. Lots of good choices are available, as well as free water points throughout the park. They’ve also done a great job improving their accessibility facilities too, on top of a desire to be more sustainable too. Tickets are still available to buy, from weekend stays to day trips. You can purchase them via this link. You can also keep track of any updates via their website.
