Leo Walrus has released his new single ‘Old Words, New Mess’. Coming only a few months after ‘Gotta LUV Your Home‘, this is the second taste of what to expect from the Southend-to-South-London artist’s upcoming album, Moontime.
Harnessing a proper throwback sound that takes the best elements from the 70s, Leo ponders the art of starting over again. Backed by wandering pianos and soft guitars, the song opens with an easygoing vibe that sinks into the mind with ease.
Leo’s vocals flow effortlessly through the instrumental, voicing how he dozes on public transport and how past experiences always make their mark on a hard reset. It’s never truly a new beginning, but a wiser one, and the results – the “new mess” – aren’t easy to predict. Due to the amount of hooks and harmonies inside, the point feels so relatable, and turns this song into a real earworm.
‘Old Words, New Mess’ is such an easy song to get into. Leo Walrus has an ability to create infectious tunes that aren’t too in-your-face, but somehow last in your brain for ages. It’s so good, and it makes me excited to hear more from Moontime.
