Vying for the title of this year’s busiest bee, better joy returns with new single ‘this part of town’. It follows last month’s cover of ‘you get what you give‘ by New Radicals, and debut EP, heading into blue, which came out in March.
Alongside the new tune comes news of a sister EP. at dusk is set to launch October 31st, and will continue to walk the journey started by its predecessor. I don’t know how Bria Keely’s churning out all this music, but I’m not complaining. Us fans are eating good!
Speaking of the new single, Bria says “This part of town is about the unknown in relationships. Sometimes you can veer off track and feel like you’re far away from ‘home’; when life throws curveballs at you, it’s about gearing up and embracing them together and working through it one way or another. For me, it makes for the perfect start to the next better joy chapter with my upcoming second EP, at dusk”
Featuring the melancholic atmosphere that lived within heading into blue, ‘this part of town’ retains a lot of what made the EP work so well. Acting as a transition between it and the upcoming at dusk. Its instrumental is alive with soft, heart-aching melodies and a driven rhythm that makes it sink into the mind. Bria’s vocals convey all the emotions that are held within the lyrics. Bringing a bittersweet to it that shows how relatable her music is.
With a string of summer festival appearances and a supporting slot with Amy MacDonald in November, things are really heating up for better joy. It’s easy to see why when you consider how easy it is to get into her music. ‘this part of town’ reinforces this, and leaves us excited to hear more from at dusk.
