Jordan Cracknell releases debut single ‘Gordon Gekko’ // REVIEW

Jordan Cracknell is here to collect her bonuses and break glass ceilings, and she’s doing both with ‘Gordon Gekko’, a debut single that kicks down the door of the pop scene with style, swagger, and a synthesiser. Inspired by the infamous 1987 film Wall Street and its slick-talking antihero, Cracknell reclaims the narrative with a beat-driven feminist twist that’s as sharp as her lyrics and twice as fun.

Built on a foundation of punchy house rhythms and neon-lit 80s synths, ‘Gordon Gekko’ is a dance anthem with ambition. Co-written with Love Island producer Tom Marlow (yes, that’s a real sentence), the production is sleek and addictive. It’s got the glossy polish of a dancefloor banger, but underneath, it’s packing brains and bite. Imagine Marina going corporate while Fred Again hijacks the boardroom playlist.

Cracknell plays it cool, vocally, as she is effortless, composed, and completely in control. She doesn’t need to shout to own the room. With lines that cheekily challenge the finance bro fantasy, she flips the TikTok “man in finance” trope on its head and turns it into a power move. There’s humour, there’s confidence, and most importantly, there’s a point: this is a new kind of Wall Street story, and the boss is wearing heels.

What makes ‘Gordon Gekko’ stand out isn’t just the sound, it’s the woman behind it. Cracknell brings real-world experience from the world of high finance, and that authenticity gives her lyrics an extra edge. She’s not playing dress-up; she’s lived it, flipped it, and now she’s dancing all over it with perfectly timed drops.

A debut this bold doesn’t come around often. ‘Gordon Gekko’ is clever, catchy, and crackling with character, like an announcement of an artist who’s not just entering the chat, but rewriting the terms of the conversation. Jordan Cracknell is dead good, and we’ll be watching closely to see what power play she makes next.
