Make Out Monday release new single ‘Back to the Feeling’ // REVIEW

With their eagerly awaited new single ‘Back to the Feeling’, alternative rock outfit Make Out Monday return with a shimmering, nostalgic anthem that effortlessly fuses 80s-inspired soundscapes with the band’s signature pop punk verve. The track, written by Zack Shada, Seth Renken, and Ezra Behrens, originated from an intimate acoustic riff by drummer Seth, before blossoming into a full-bodied composition propelled by Zack’s soaring melodies and wistful lyricism.

The single pulses with life with their infectious soundscapes. Bright synths and jangly guitars weave through the mix, anchored by a rhythm section that snaps with momentum and optimism. The production, crafted by Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount and mastered by Ted Jensen, nods to 80s icons like Tears For Fears, The Cars, Genesis, and Don Henley, yet the result feels unmistakably Make Out Monday: energetic, heartfelt, and immediate.

‘Back to the Feeling’ treads that sweet spot between longing and celebration. It reflects on moments and relationships that exist only in memory, impossible to relive, yet unforgettable, and wraps that wistfulness in melodies that feel euphoric. Layered harmonies and subtle instrumental flourishes bring warmth and depth, giving the track a timeless quality that lingers long after the final chord.

‘Back to the Feeling’ is proof that Make Out Monday can honor the past while boldly charging into the present. Nostalgic yet forward-looking, it’s an anthem that reminds us that even if we can’t go back, we can carry the spirit of those moments with us, and dance to them all over again.
