Adelide returns with ‘Witness’. The new single is a modern, queer take on the Garden of Eden. Trading in the apples and snakes for synthesisers, disco balls and desire. A far more exciting setting, I’m sure you would agree.
With its dancing basslines and shimmering melodies, ‘Witness’ is an immediate hit on the ears. Setting off with a glossy take on Funk, Soul and Pop, it wastes no time in flooding the ol’ drums with a rich, vibrant instrumental that is catchy beyond belief. Its direct sound is led by Adelide’s vocals, in which the New York artist tells a reimaging of the story of Adam and Eve and urges us to explore the complexities of passion and surrender. Transforming it into a story for modern times, and something that everybody can relate to.
Far more enjoyable than reading the bible, ‘Witness’ packs a tale as old (testament) as time with a serious amount of Funk. Loaded with all the highlights of 80s funk and disco, this song is hard to resist. Easily becoming one of the biggest earworms of the year. This is the second single to come from Adelide this year, and we’re hoping more will be on the way.
