At 17 years of age, Alex Spencer is one of the UK’s most promising songwriters.
Discovered while busking on the streets of Manchester, Alex combines infectious guitar riffs along with a natural ability to craft catchy songs with a lyrical prowess beyond his years.
Last week Alex released his latest single “Nightmares” and it’s yet another absolute banger.
With a Reverend and The Makers vibe at the start, the song is based on a ghoulish nightmare he had before going to the recording studio. There’s even a couple of verses in Spanish. It’s a brilliant, catchy two minute banger that’s already proving to be a live favourite.Â
I had the pleasure of watching Alex headline Manchester Academy 3 this past Friday and it was a set of youthful exuberance with a devoted audience who loved every minute.
With a talent like Alex, local music is in a very good place. “Nightmares” is available to stream now.Â
You captured his performance perfectly. I attended as his invited guest, having interviewed him back in December. His genius shone out and, as you say, Alex is a force to be enjoyed, right to your core. Just seen as shot of Marc Bolan at the microphone…..there’s something in Alex that was in Marc….clone or what?
