Mere months after launching her debut EP, An Exorcise in Anger, Alexandra Leaving returns with “Out Of This World”. Alex has become one of my favourite discoveries this year, mainly because of how loud and out of control her music can get. This new single is no exception – perhaps being her loudest yet.
“It’s about obsession. How something can feel so out of reach and yet, totally consume you. That intoxication. This song’s about surrendering to the feeling.” – Alexandra Leaving
As someone with a debilitating urge to have pizza at any and all times, I hugely relate to the overwhelming nature of “Out Of This World”. Instrumentally, the song picks up where “Scars” left off. Kicking off with an immediate sound that floods the ears with guitars that could riff ‘til the end of time. It wastes no time to get going, it just wants to pick up where the EP left off and take you along for the ride. With Alex’s vocals soaring through the chorus too, it is a proper anthem.
I wasn’t expecting to hear something so soon but am so happy we have. “Out Of This World” is bold and unstable in its desire to get to you. It feels powerful and quite exhilarating really. If this is a taste of what we can expect to hear in future releases, then I’m fully prepared to jump on board once again.
