Baby Cool – ‘The Sea’ / New Single

‘The Sea’ is the newest single from Baby Cool – the solo project of Nice Biscuit’s Grace Cuell. With news of her debut album Earthing On The Road To Self Love set to surface early next year, this new tune is a flood of noise that gets us excited for more.

Following from debut single ‘Magic’, ‘The Sea’ combines the psychedelic traits of pop with hints of country as it wades through the vast topic of mental health. “The Sea was written after a time when my mental health was so poor that I needed daily reminders of the magic that comes with existing in a human body.” Says Cuell. “I wrote myself a love letter on a piece of pink handmade paper and I read the letter to myself every morning. The Sea and the concept of the album were born from this daily ritual.”

With a rich sound filled with all sorts of instruments, ‘The Sea’ is a song you can dive into forever. Contributions from harps, bass and guitars come against a percussive backdrop to create one of the most soothing sounds we’ve heard this year. There’s no urgency to it, all that remains is the ability to dive inside and float along. Grace’s vocals have the perfect amount of weight to them. Acting as the breeze in this idyllic setting. Making for a wonderful listen.
