Chartreuse – ‘Things Are Changing Too Quickly’ / New Single

After releasing their EP Keep Checking Up On Me last year back in 2020, Chartreuse have been going through isoloations and lockdowns like the rest of us. Although it’s been a difficult and strange time for most, the Midlands-based band have been able to lock themselves away from the world, and throw all of their energy into music.

After multiple months crafting and experimenting, the band are back with more sweet music – with the promise of an EP on the also! ‘Things Are Changing Too Quickly’ is the first release from this coming EP, entitled Is It Autumn Already?, and what a way to leave music fans wanting more.

Watch the video below:

‘Things Are Changing Too Quickly’ once again proves the craftsmanship the band has when the band come to writing songs. Starting out with a quick drumbeat, Michael Wagstaff leaps on to the track with his rich, bass driven voice, thanking everyone for coming over for his special day.

Much like a lot of Chartreuse tracks, it ebb’s and flows, through a pure pace of panic to complete calmness. Take for example the chorus build with the lyrics “You pass though / so thankful”, they build up this anticipation, which takes your breath away if you get too into the song. We then quickly tone down with the chorus of; “Happy Birthday/What’s your Worth Today?”, understatedly beautiful.

As always the musicality is something only to be admired, the way the band whip up the whole atmospherics of track is magical. Which leads to a lot of praise for the production of the song, with it being crystal clear and so well put together. For me, there’s no band quite like them on the independent scene at the moment (and if there is I’d love to hear them), but it’s tracks like these which set them apart.

As for the EP, it will be released on November 19th 2021, and after hearing it live and ahead of time, I can say that you won’t want to miss it. It’s the bands best work to date.
