One of the most prolific songwriters in the North West released another new single last week.
‘Dear Divisively Departed’ by Craig Lee and the Humblebees is a track that in it’s opening seconds exudes warmth and nostalgia.Â
The start of the record, with its crackles and muffled vocals, feels like you’re putting on an old vinyl record. The song then breaks into a clarity that makes you feel that you’ve made a sudden jump in eras. Throughout the track there’s a great interplay between nostalgia and contemporary.Â
The production on this song is first class, with each instrument given a chance to shine. It has a great mix of studio polish and live energy.
It’s a compelling listen with energy, a memorable melody and an insanely catchy chorus.
This is a song that, in it’s 4 minute duration, took me through many eras and also ends as it started – that charming crackle.
