Dance Lessons – ‘Just Chemistry’ / New Single

London-based trio Dance Lessons return with new single ‘Just Chemistry’. While they’ve received high praise for their last two singles, it’s the latest that has really got me hooked. It’s one that embraces space, using it to allow the band’s minimalist production to sound really effective. I can’t get enough of it.

Written about the over-complication of relationships, ‘Just Chemistry’ returns to the basics. Highlighting our primal tendencies and removing everything else, it chooses to celebrate how we’re just chemistry at the end of the day. Its instrumental delights in this extra freedom, delivering percussion that fades into the distance and palm-muted guitars that bubble with excitement. A direct bassline hits the hips throughout, and the breathlessness in the vocals help ramp up the sensualness of the track. It’s certainly a sexy song. One that moves at its own pace to eventually overwhelm the senses, especially once the saxophones arrive. Oh boy.

As you can probably guess, I absolutely love ‘Just Chemistry’. It transports you into an ocean of sound, dropping you in as it washes over you with its vast atmosphere. I love how assured it is and can only dream of being that composed. Very excited to hear where Dance Lessons go from here.
