Indie Central Music: Plaisir – Foam

Berlin’s Plaisir released their second EP Foam last week, packed to the brim with moody dream pop, cold-wavey goodness.

Seven tracks of sonic rollercoasters, the trio had a rich and diverse pallet of moves under their belts keeping you on your toes throughout. Infusing it with elements of shoegaze-y lullabyes, gothy pop ballads, synth pop weirdness and seductive post-punk sounds, these three women are an interesting listen.

Meeting in the throws of a sweaty concert in a Berlin basement, Camille Haimet, Carla Cixi and KC Dahlehan formed Plaisir on their combined interests and influences.

The Foam EP is the perfect personal soundtrack for the mercurial romantic. Desperate, playful, provocative and melancholic, the band hit the sweet spot between dark psychedelia and contemporary experimental pop. Listen to the latest EP now.

It’s All Indie: The Thing With Feathers – ‘Static’

Bursting out of Nashville in the USA is The Thing With Feathers and their beautiful new track “Static“. One thing is noticeable right from the start of the track, the high tone in the guitars gives the listener a sense of summer vibes, with the vocals adding some swagger you expect to see from some of the big rock acts – proving that they’re certainly aiming for the big time.

The chorus is out and out anthemic with some vocal hooks I can see thousands of people chanting it right back to them. It’s bands and tracks like this that we just love, until a few days ago we didn’t know of them, and now all we want to do is listen to their upbeat indie-rock vibes.

The single is poised to be the first single off of their upcoming debut EP, “Sundays In The South” – and yes we will be certainly giving it a spin once it is out.

Nexus Music Blog: Cavalcade – ‘Dreaming About’

Cavalcade have a habit of releasing the most radio-ready tracks. And their latest offering does not disappoint. ‘Dreaming About’ was released yesterday and it defines what Cavalcade are all about. Big sounds, amazing production and a satisfying feeling all rolled into a near four minute medley of audio assuredness which places ‘Dreaming About’ firmly in the ring as one of this weeks best releases.

DGM: Kyoto Kyoto – ‘Fenderr’

London’s Kyoto Kyoto return with new single ‘Fenderr’. The trio kicked off their career with the wonderfully mind-melting ‘Gaacher Blitz’, a debut single that made them one of the more intriguing bands of the year. I was excited to hear from them, and fortunately this new tune satisfies that need well.

Fuelled by the scatty percussions and off-kilter melodies heard on previous singles, ‘Fenderr’ is every bit of entertaining and unnerving as we’ve come to expect from Kyoto Kyoto. It eases into its rhythm, slowly filling the room with guitars that seem to come from all directions. They have this enveloping quality about them. As if the world is closing in on you as this mid-tempo, rather pleasant instrumental plays. It’s great and really captures a style of unease that was heard throughout Black Country, New Road’s debut album. The way it erupts so organically while maintaining that sense of urgency is superb too.

‘Fenderr’ is another song that solidifies my excitement for Kyoto Kyoto. With news of a debut EP coming in the new year, it might be a great time to get in on the hype train for this trio before they deliver the goods. What a tune.
