‘Another Love’ is the latest single from Gemma Hayes, released ready for her album release this September. ‘Another Love’ was released on the 14th of August, featuring Paul Noonan. Hayes is a singer and song writer hailing from Ireland and the upcoming ‘Blind Faith’ will be her sixth album, releasing on the 27th of September. Gemma speaks about this single, “Another Love is a lament,” she explains. “it deals with two characters being haunted by the ghost of someone they loved while finding comfort in each other’s arms. Both reveal that they do not love the other and that weirdly brings them closer together.”
The song holds a soft and eerie start, immediately making clear the interesting sounds that will grace the track. With an inherit feeling linking the song to a natural feel, this is a poignant song filled with grief and comfort respectively. The vocals merge well with the instruments creating a constantly interesting mix of sounds. The instrumentals feel similar in energy to that of Noah Kahan and PJ Harvey. The two vocals feel almost confrontational but, regardless work really well in harmony. This way the vocals work together is particularly evident as the song speeds up. Overall, the track creates a feeling of bittersweet and aching for the listener, particularly when focusing on the stunning piano complimenting the lyrics. It’s a song that is truly felt, full of emotion and passion, I for one, was left with the feeling that the song felt lived in. ‘Another Love’ is a beautiful introduction of what’s to come for Hayes’ new album, which we’ll be able to listen to come the 27th of September.
‘Another Love’, alongside Gemma Hayes’ other tracks are available on Spotify and you can listen to her live at her tour, starting in September.
