After having a very successful year in 2021, with the release of several singles and debut EP Planetary Shifts, Graywave is back with her first music of 2022 entitled ‘Build’.
If you’ve had the pleasure of listening to Graywave before, then you already will have an insight into how this will sound. Opening up the track is a huge wall of noise, with a striking guitar, seemingly tearing the centre of the world. This guitar continues throughout the song, as Graywave almost whispers the lyrics through the sea of noise. It’s certainly darker than previous tracks, as there’s no let-up, and is considerably heavier.
Halfway through the track, we stumble into an eerie section, with everything slowly simmering down, while the guitar just lurks behind the drums. The closing of the track is intensely dramatic as if you’re falling through the night sky into nothing (at least that’s how I felt!).
Graywave was one of my favourite breakthrough artists in 2021, and there was a reason for that. Her music and production are stellar, and her standards haven’t dropped.
‘Build’ is the first release off her upcoming EP Rebirth, which will be released later this year. Just to mention, releasing an EP so shortly after her debut – is impressive.
