HALAN returns with new single ‘Little More’. Her first single of the year marks as a reset for the LA-based artist. Having filled her debut year with a series of sad songs that fit with the overall vibe of 2020, HALAN realised that it’s time to shift her sound into a more empowering tone.
“I realized that while I tend to write sad songs, the production doesn’t necessarily have to indulge my sadness by being slow and melancholy; they can make me dance instead. Now I’m channelling my angst into energized, more empowered dance pop, because quite frankly, I prefer dancing to moping around.” She says. Having cranked up the BPM, ‘Little More’ becomes a straight up dance number that batters its way through the speakers. Its scuzzy synths pierce the ears with pinpoint precision, filling the room with an old school, Chemical Brothers tone that sinks into the mind.
A snappy drum beat adds further groove to the mix, while HALAN dominates the remaining space with a range of soaring vocals that envelop between the layers. It’s such a direct sound that it makes you wonder how long HALAN has been dying to bust out this new side of her. It’s superb.
‘Little More’ is a great song and one that injects a new lease of life into HALAN’s discography. While a lot of her material matched the vibe of last year, this new single perfectly encapsulates the hope and positivity that we have for this year. This is real good.
