If, like me, you have a liking for Netflix documentaries which show the darker side of things, then the subject matter of this track might be your thing. Northwest singer/songwriter Issy Sutcliffe released her new tune this past Thursday.
‘Killed a Man’ in Issy’s words is a song about people’s fascinations with serial killers and really dark people. For me this brought to mind Ted Bundy, who had a devoted following despite his crimes.
With a classic swagger, Issy is effortlessly cool on this track, and this is seriously top tier song writing by an artist who just keeps going from strength to strength. It’s absolute lyrical brilliance.
“I think my boyfriend has once killed a man. He could confess to me, I’d understand” – That to me is this track in a nutshell.
Issy has a gig coming up on 10th April at Gullivers in Manchester, and I’m looking forward to hearing this and other tracks live. One special talent.
‘Killed a Man’ is available to stream now.
