JACK JONES – ‘GLADYS’ // NEW DEAD GOOD MUSIC

It’s been a bustling summer for songwriter and wordsmith Jack Jones. With his highly anticipated debut solo album set for release through Strap Originals on 20th September 2024, he has already released four singles; ‘Breathe’, ‘Who Let The Bass Pump Through The Floor’, and Peaches Out Of Reach‘. Each track has garnered multiple plays on BBC 6Music and Radio X.

Titled ‘Gladys’, the latest release from the Trampolene frontman is arguably his most uplifting yet. Jack isn’t shy about addressing today’s pressing issues in his lyrics, including mental health, and his skill as a lyricist shines bright in ‘Gladys’, which stands out as a moving and humorously candid tribute to the unconventional methods of his therapist. The song is accompanied by a one-take music video, shot by Jack himself on a roundabout in a London park.

“The idea for this song is, you’re sat in a therapy room, and the therapist isn’t really helping you much: they’re just telling you to get on with it, kind of thing. I got the name Gladys from Peter (Doherty)’s dog Gladys. I always found the name funny, so I thought it was a name that could be good in a song, so Gladys just seemed like the right name for this therapist.”

Jack’s upcoming solo album, Jack Jones, will be available on vinyl in multiple colour formats, CD and digital download. You can pre order it here.
