Scouse legend returns with new music.
After the success of his debut album, you’re bound to know who Jamie Webster is by now. If you don’t then it’s about time you got acquainted; Jamie is the 27-year-old plumber turned folk superstar from Liverpool, who is hot off the success of his debut album ‘We Get By’ and ready to take the UK by storm again with new music. Alongside new single ‘Going Out’, Jamie has announced the release of his highly anticipated second album which will be titled ‘Moments’ and is set for release on January 28th 2022.
Latest offering ‘Going Out’ starts out as a striped back acoustic guitar track, featuring Jamie’s powerful voice as he tells us a story about Paul and Annabella who are “tired of hearing that freedom comes with cost”. After the first verse the track kicks into action, picking up the pace with drums and quickly strummed guitar, as always his lyrics are clever thought provoking, providing a social commentary from the perspective of young people throughout the pandemic and aptly ends on the lyric “fuck it, tonight we’re going out”.
Jamie commented: “People must pretend not to understand what it’s been like for young people, waiting to finally live what they are told are their best years only to be denied that life for so long. They’ve had so little support, their own pains weren’t addressed during lockdowns and nobody came out on their side or to change things, so ‘Going Out’ is about understanding why rules are broken. If people like this one and ‘Days Unknown’ then ‘Moments’ won’t disappoint them. It’s bigger, better and doesn’t compromise for a second to try and claim popularity over principles.”
The new singe also comes with a video which was shot at last weekend’s gig at The Guild in Liverpool which sold out, and it previews the festival-like atmosphere you can expect at one of Jamie’s energetic live shows. Check out the video here and listen to ‘Going Out’ below!
