Lauran Hibberd – ‘Bleugh’ / New Single

Slacker pop hero Lauran Hibberd returns with new single and general exclaim of disgust ‘Bleugh’. As we move closer to the launch of her highly anticipated EP Goober, she continues the momentum leftover from ‘How Am I Still Alive?’ to deliver another tune that solidifies the notion that she only releases hits. Seriously dudes, no duds.

‘Bleugh’ is a scathing reflection against Lauran’s “pre-naïve self” as she ponders the infatuation felt towards certain individuals who generally have little to offer. These thoughts are laced with sarcasm dripping from each word and are projected against an instrumental that’s full of feedback and fury. Booming guitars and thundering drums come and go to leave a lasting impression. It’s noticeably heavier compared to anything Lauran has released before but works so well is the context of it all.

This section is contrasted against verses that are almost playful in comparison. Bouncing the lyrics between their easy-going chords, before launching into a chorus that’s quintessentially LH. Complete with the massive power chords and shout-along lyrics, it’s another tune that fills the room with anthemic goodness.

As you can guess, ‘Bleugh’ is another superb single from Lauran Hibberd. I didn’t think I could be more excited for Goober but this new tune brings in a whole new level of anticipation. With serious buzz built and high standard of music released over the years, Goober could be the release that finally launches LH onto a new level of fame. Nothing but hits.
