Aesthetic Instagram posts and optimistic Facebook feeds often make us feel like we need to have the world figured out, and that can be pretty overwhelming, but Lucky Iris reassure us that we’re doing just fine in new, reminiscent single ’23.’ Glittery funk-pop duo Maeve and Jasper “mark the start of a new Lucky Iris era” with this soft-yet-effective anthem.
Easing us in, wispy vocals are backed by a gentle beat, and we know it’s gonna be a good’un from the get-go. The track relays all the things that vocalist Maeve thought she’d have achieved by the age of 2023, but life got in the way – and that’s okay. Gentle synths add a poppy positivity to the track, letting us know that it’s perfectly okay to not know what you want to be or do. It’s from the heart, it’s Lucky Iris in a nutshell, and it’s bloomin’ good.
But, this is only the start for your new favourite duo; Lucky Iris have got a load more tricks up their sleeve. Throughout 2023 they’re to be supported by charity Help Musicians to bring us some more funky and fresh anthems. They’re excited, we’re excited, and you should be too.
