Although still early in her solo career, Marged has already made a name for herself. Hailing from Cardiff and now based in South London, she is best known for her powerful vocals and dynamic choreography with Self Esteem.
After a six-year hiatus, Marged returned to the music scene last summer with ‘Bounce Back’ – an empowering anthem about reclaiming her spirit after heartbreak. This year, she’s set to release music that offers an intimate glimpse into her personal journey and identity, with each track acting as a raw, creative extension of who she is. Her latest single, ‘SICK,’ does exactly that.
Inspired by Fariha Róisín’s book Who Is Wellness For?, Marged’s atmospheric, genre-defying track explores the complexities of wellness – questioning who defines it, who has access to it, and whether individual well-being is even possible without collective healing. A powerful and thought-provoking piece, it weaves together spoken word and Marged’s signature ethereal vocals to striking effect. The boundary-pushing production fuses glitchy electronic textures and rapid-fire beats with sweeping classical strings – an unexpected combination that, against the odds, works seamlessly.
‘SICK’ is available now from all digital platforms.
