Mojo Morgan releases new EP Jamaica Love // REVIEW

Mojo Morgan’s Jamaica Love is less a record and more a manifesto. The GRAMMY-winning reggae artist, known globally as a member of Morgan Heritage, has delivered a solo project that refuses to be boxed in. Across nine tracks, Mojo weaves reggae, hip-hop, country soul, and pop into a lush fusion he calls ‘Rasta Rock’, a sound that feels timeless yet daringly modern.

The EP opens with ‘When The Father Calls’, grounding listeners in the spiritual and cultural roots of the project. From the first moments, Mojo sets the tone: this is music that respects heritage while daring to look forward.

‘Make It’, a collaboration with Popcaan, Chronic Law, and Pablo YG, injects trap-influenced grit into the reggae backbone. The result feels like a Kingston street anthem fit for global playlists, bridging dancehall, drill, and hip-hop swagger. Elsewhere, ‘Man of Action’ with Maino and Jamal leans even heavier into hip-hop territory, positioning Mojo as a cultural bridge-builder unafraid of genre collision.

But the emotional centre of the EP lies in ‘Mountain Song’, a collaboration with his brother Gramps Morgan and son Esh Morgan. It’s a warm, soaring anthem that feels destined for festival crowds: acoustic guitar, gospel harmonies, and roots reggae spirit all folding into a crossover-ready track reminiscent of Post Malone or Ed Sheeran, only richer, with cultural gravitas.

The inclusion of the late Peetah Morgan adds weight to the project. His voice, familiar and deeply loved, turns songs into living memory. It’s a reminder that Jamaica Love isn’t just about the present moment; it’s a continuation of legacy, a bridge between past and future.

For hip-hop audiences, the appeal lies in the EP’s fearlessness. Mojo treats reggae not as a closed genre but as a living organism, capable of absorbing 808s, rap verses, and pop hooks while still carrying its message of love and resilience. It’s the kind of project that will resonate with hip-hop listeners who crave authenticity alongside experimentation.

Ultimately, Jamaica Love is more than a sonic experiment. It’s a celebration of heritage, a family chronicle, and a visionary leap into what global music can be. If hip-hop is about truth-telling and resilience, Mojo Morgan’s truth is written in every note of this EP.
