Nrvs – ‘I Like You’ / New Single

London’s Nrvs return with ‘I Like You’. The first single off of their upcoming EP of the same name. While not a lot is known about the anonymous trio, they certainly know how to deliver a good hook or two and this new song is no exception.

While it shrouds itself in the multi-faceted world of Punk and Post-Punk and surrounds the ears with an overflowing instrumental, ‘I Like You’ focuses on the basics of any connection or anything we do in society. “Humans can be pretty basic. Love songs, poems about suicide, Tinder … it all boils down to one thing: I like you. Do you like me? It’s the ultimate vulnerability”. It’s true. We all just wanna be liked.

Musically the song chugs through the airwaves with a mammoth bass line barging past with an equally big set of drums right behind it. It gets straight to the point and is determined to stick to its guns, even when the guitars arrive and bring layers of additional sound to the mix. The extra contributions from the guitars and horns really adds a bit of chaos to the track and influence the vocals to head just a tad into the frantic zone. Making ‘I Like You’ even more of a memorable listen.

Nrvs have kicked off the campaign towards their new EP in a big way. ‘I Like You’ is simple in execution but showcases a whole range of moods that the trio could explore further and that has left me intrigued for what’s to come.
