Peaness – ‘What’s The Use?’ / New Single

After seeing Peaness support The Cribs several years back, I’ve always kept out a keen ear for them. Their performance that night was wholesome. You could tell from the way they played, it was just three friends who enjoyed playing music, and happened to be very good at making indie pop music. Their chemistry as a band was easy to see, and their humble approach to playing was endearing!

However, a few years have passed and Peaness are still making great music, which can be heard in their latest track ‘What’s the Use?’ ahead of their debut album, set for release in 2022! It’s been just over a year since Peaness released any new material, with ‘Kaizen’ being their previous release in 2020.

The song opens up with some bursting vocals from bass player Jess as she belts out “What’s the use? / I should just hide”. The guitars in it are gentle and calm on ears, which is like many of Peaness’ tracks. However it has some really intricate breakdown parts, as guitarist Balla lays in a catchy little diddy post the chorus, and for the solo!

The track is such a pleasant and chill listen, which I’ve always enjoyed about the music Peaness have released. After listening to it few times in a row inevitably the chorus is still stuck in my head which I’m glad about.

After hearing this latest release, the excitement for their upcoming debut album in 2022 is heightened. As that is the only criticism about the band, there’s not enough Peaness to listen to! Anyway, while I wait for the album I’ll be revisiting their debut EP ‘Are You Sure’ which and keeping an eye out!
