Preview: Tramlines Festival

Tramlines Festival adds more big names to 2023 line up.  

Sheffield’s biggest party, has just got bigger with the addition of new music and entertainment for the 15th edition of the festival this July. 

Taking place over three-days at Hillsborough Park from the 21st – 23rd July, headliners Richard Ashcroft, Courteeners and Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbot will be joined by an eclectic host of acts across the weekend.  

In the latest round of editions, the UK’s 2023 Eurovision entrant, Mae Muller joins the bill alongside Professor Green, who’s back with a new EP later this year. The hotly tipped shoegaze-Britpop outfit Chappaqua Wrestling have also been added alongside even more talent including indie rap punk three-piece, Bilk, The K’s, and Bonnie Kemplay.

 The festival’s latest announcement also reveals their line-up for The Open Arms, Tramlines pub stage which has previously attracted large crowds for its atmosphere and cabaret-style billing. Now a staple at the festival, Shaun Williams’ Barrioke is set to return as well as welcoming the weirdly wonderful Heavy Metal Bee Gees from NYC and German oompah band Brasswurst.  

The Open Arms is also host to ‘Speakers Corner’ where festival-goers are able to discover cutting-edge lyricists, insightful poets, and spoken word artists. Poet and hip-hop artist himself, Otis Mensah, is back to programme an exciting mix of talent that includes, San Diego rapper RoQy TyRaiD, a takeover from Sheffield’s urban lyricist competition Slambarz, Aka Kelzz, and the emerging talents of poet Tai ÒgúnSheffield’s newest Poet Laureate, Danaë Wellington, and many more.
