One of the great things about music is finding new talent.
As a regular gig goer, I’ve always made a point of not only watching the main act but also catching the support too. You never know what great music you might find.
This happened last month when watching Alex Spencer at Manchester Academy 3. One of the two support acts that night were a teenage band from Cleethorpes called Revivalry.
When watching these guys live, you could see the raw energy in their set (they even played part of the set on the gig floor).
This past Friday they released their debut single “The Town”. The subject of the song is pretty much what it says on the tin: The struggles of getting through the week and getting to a weekend with familiar faces and enjoying life.
The sentiments reminded me of “Living For The Weekend” by Hard-Fi and with it’s hypnotic guitar riffs, the song feels instant.
It’s been a big year for the boys already having recently signed to Manchester based indie label Cosmic Glue and with other big gigs planned, I think it will be a bumper year for these guys.
With influences such as Nirvana, Supergrass and Arctic Monkeys the sky’s the limit.
“The Town” is available to stream now.
