Rush Midnight is the collaboration between New York musician Russell Manning and songwriter/producer Rico Martinez. Honing their genre-bending sound since 2012, now the LA-based duo return with dreamy indie-pop single ‘Take the Long Way Home’.
The new single achieves a unique indie-disco soundscape through an irresistible funk-driven bassline and charming synths. Manning delivers airy vocals that effortlessly float over sun-kissed hooks, capturing the themes of euphoria and delight.
“Set to a summer ocean backdrop, this song captures the feeling of wanting to savour every moment of the late-night trip back home — after one party ends and a new one is about to begin.” Russel and Rico say of the vibe they wanted to create with the track.
Russell Manning of Rush Midnight spent his formative years studying under jazz bass legends Buster Williams, Eddie Gomez, and Leon Dorsey. After touring the world playing bass with various bands including Twin Shadow, Russell began to focus on his own music, teaming up with songwriting partner and co-producer Rico Martinez whose lyric, melody and hook ideas compliment Russell’s instrumentals and production.
Rush Midnight is the perfect fresh find for fans of Metronomy, Tame Impala and Jagwar Ma. ‘Take the Long Way Home’ is out now.
