Samryebread has returned with a new and dreamy track and, with it, has marked a significant departure from her previous release.
The new track, named ‘Sofie’, has a title that embodies its soft instrumental tone: swelling synths lay the foundations of the track before pulsating drum machines provide a rolling rhythm throughout. Samryebread’s flexing vocal tones weave their way through the instrumentation and add to the track’s relaxing feel.
The soft tones curve the edge of the otherwise sharp lyrics, which focus on the difficulty of growing to embrace our shame, as well as facing up to external criticism and judgement.
The Philadelphia-based singer/songwriter – whose real name is Samantha Rosen – has been steadily releasing music since 2019 and, in that time, has experimented with a range of different musical styles: including Indie-pop, R&B, and Rock.
This tune is a further testament to Samantha’s restless artistic approach and marks a notable change in sound for the singer, whose last single, on which she collaborated with SELEKTA XXX, featured a more Hip-Hop inspired and high-tempo rhythm.
Fans of the hers will be looking forward to seeing where her sound ventures to next.
