San Lorenz – ‘Where’s The Shock?’ / New Single

If you have been keeping up with the Dead Good Playlist, you may have heard the infectious new single from San Lorenz. Just as you think that you’ve heard the best from this band, they slam out another one. As expected, the latest, ‘Where’s The Shock?’, is a huge moment and not one to be missed.

From their early days, San Lorenz have released their songs on their own label, Nuthin Gud. This is no doubt a large factor in their emotive and striking signature sound. You can’t deny that there has always been something inherently artistic about a San Lorenz track. Any music is art, but this band have a certain flair that is at the forefront of all their songs. In ‘Where’s The Shock?’ they flip the narrative of feeling nothing at all, and produce something which penetrates the senses all round. They ask “where’s the gut punch?” while providing exactly that, with intense vocals and a rhythm that beats through the chest.

‘Where’s The Shock?’ plunges into a dark place, all the while remaining upbeat on the surface. It provides that ‘let it out’ energy, and finds the strength within to stand up against it all. Stylistically, it has a pop meets rock mentality, with particular reference to some of our favourite math rock indie bangers. This new release sees an era of refinement with something that is raw, yet polished.

San Lorenz previously released ‘Tightrope’, which was another instant hit, with sweet indie melodies lulling us into an unexpected yet satisfying shred of energy. As the first taste of the newly branded San Lorenz, this left whatever followed with some big boots to fill. Thankfully, ‘Where’s The Shock?’ has donned these boots with ease and marched full steam ahead. There is simply no one doing it like San Lorenz.
