Sawtega stick the landing on new single ‘Revenge’ // Review

Sawtega are back with new single ‘Revenge’. The South Wales band made a huge impression on us with their debut ‘Tower‘ last month. Bringing their brand of Nu-Grunge Nettle-Core right to our faces and sounding as huge as its name implies.

Written about the trope of the last girl alive in a Horror film, and how said struggles translate into everyday life, ‘Revenge’ is all about taking control. Where ‘Tower’ was the first week in a post-apocalyptic world, ‘Revenge’ showcases how said girl has her shit together and is ready to destroy anything in her way. Nothing about this sounds scared or nervous; this is a badass in action.

Instrumentally, ‘Revenge’ is loaded with riffs that are in-your-face to an uncomfortable degree, yet have the impact to fill the room too. What’s good is that though it hits all the notes of a good Nu-Metal song, it has synthesisers hidden in the layers that pulsate with groove. Adding a real danceable quality to it. It doesn’t diminish the fury that bleeds from the track, but does make you want to return to it again and again.

We mentioned last time that Sawtega know how to make an entrance, and here they prove they’re ready to stick around too. ‘Revenge’ is a fantastic song, and absolutely pummels my brain into mush in the best way possible.
