Shape of Water releases ‘Naked’ // Review

‘Naked’ is the latest single from Italian duo, Shape of Water. Since moving to Manchester back in 2015, the duo have taken on a DIY approach with their music. From recording to designing artwork and promotional visuals, they do it all themselves. This has garnered quite the following over the last few years, with their newest single ‘The Silence of the Lambs’ being hailed as their heaviest track to date. However, with a renewed focus on ‘Naked’, we’re treated to a groovy, seductive sound that entices us in.

Utilising their electro-rock sound perfectly, ‘Naked’ sets off with a quick intro that sets the tone before launching into a beat that soon erupts. Sketchy guitars combine with heavy bass notes and drums to suddenly convert this emotive tune into something that could fill dancefloors. It’s an unexpected but welcome twist. This leads the way for all manner of hooks and anthemic guitar solos to fill the room, and leave you wanting to hit repeat right away.

With news of a third album set to arrive this year, Shape of Water has got the momentum going with ‘Naked’. Its dark, seductive sound is intense and catchy, making us excited to hear more.

  1. I love the shift to a more groovy and seductive vibe with ‘Naked.’ It’s refreshing to hear them experiment with their sound after the heaviness of ‘The Silence of the Lambs.’ Can’t wait to see what’s next from them!
