Shelf Lives – ‘Shock Horror’ / New Single

Shock Horror’ is the new single from Shelf Lives, a two-piece from London who have become the latest obsession of mine. With a mini album titled Yes, offence set for release later this year, now is the perfect time to get into this serious mix of electro-punk. Written about the duo’s idea of the worst person imaginable, the song struts its way through the speakers with infectious groove and hard-hitting guitars that leave you exhausted and still wanting more.

Kicking off with a stern but driven drum beat and a guitar riff that drills into your mind, ‘Shock Horror’ quickly gets underway in becoming your newest earworm. It has a real cool air about it, which is only accentuated by the steely vocal delivery by Sabrina. There’s something quite not-that-bothered about them, which only makes things sound cooler. While the foundation remains tight throughout, the song does bleed electro with scatty glitches heard throughout. Adding more fire and chaos into the mix the further the song moves along.

It’s a superb listen and one that I cannot stop playing. Shelf Lives have become a duo to watch, and I cannot wait to hear from Yes, offence soon.
