Terry Blade releases “Tell ‘Em’ // Review

Chicago’s Terry Blade has released his new single “Tell ‘Em”. His first release since the launch of Ethos: Son of a Sharecropper back in 2023. With influences ranging from the likes of BB King, Muddy Waters and Nina Simone, Terry takes the best parts of their styles and brings it to the modern world, with a simple but effective tune that is captivating.

Armed with a guitar and vocals, “Tell ‘Em” is an intimate listen. Terry’s voice lead the way against stark, Bluesy chords that fill the room with a sombre tone. It’s classic sound utilises space to really drive home the impact that comes from the lyrics, as Terry’s heard yearning for his loved ones to stay strong.

It’s a real change of pace, but a song that makes you take notice. Terry has kicked off the year in a big way, with a song that pays homage to its influences while making itself known too.
