test plan return with new single ‘Gone’. Having already made a splash a few months back with ‘My Teeth’, the London Noise-Rock act are back to reaffirm that they mean business.
With its predecessor documenting the downward spiral of a religious figure, ‘Gone’ captures the desperate monologue in the midst of a breakdown. One that becomes darker and more feral throughout its five minute frame. With that much time involved, the song really does take you to places you wouldn’t expect.
Instrumentally, the song does its upmost to surround you in its sound. Sucking out the oxygen as it fills the room. Its unrelenting rhythm section feels like they’re performing from inside your mind, and the guitars seemingly scale the walls in an attempt to always remain in your eyesight. It is powerful, and the vocals from Max Mason are guttural beyond belief. Projecting all of the many, many, manic emotions and turmoil perfectly.
How these guys manage to find that sweet spot between moshing and dancing, I’ll never know. ‘Gone’ is an unhinged nightmare, but still maintains a semblance of groove that keeps you coming back for more. test plan continue to stand out from the crowd in delivering something visceral and exciting, along with striking music videos, so we’ll keep being in awe of them. With a new EP on the way, now is the second-best time to get into them. The best time was yesterday.
