Having spent the past year perfecting their sound, Manchester three piece The Bad Wires released their debut single “Wisecracks” on Friday.
With its dirty, bluesy guitars and clever lyrics, it’s a definite statement of intent. It’s a mix of genres with a rock n roll edge, done in a Manchester style.
The fuzzy guitar is backed by a thumping drum beat, which comes straight at you as though as you were listening in 3D (if that was a thing). This is complimented by frontman and songwriter Danny’s beautifully distorted vocals, which drive this track to even greater heights.
It’s classic rock n roll with a nod to the great bands of years gone by, but sounds completely fresh. On first listen I got a distinct vibe of early Black Rebel Motorcycle Club but there’s so many other influences on this brilliant track.
It’s bluesy, rocky, funky, snarling, distorted and even punky. In short, it’s brilliant.
With more gigs coming this year, this is a band it should be against the law not to check out. “Wisecracks” is available to stream now.
