The Marble Arches – Heads Up / EP Review

Leeds Indie-Rock band The Marble Arches releases their latest 4 track EP Heads Up. Mixed by Barny Barnicott (Arctic Monkeys, Sam Fender, Kasabian) and mastered by Frank Arkwright (Arcade Fire, Joy Division).

The lead single ‘Johnny Galecki’ confronts celebrity culture and how it can damage the way you perceive the world. The allure of the lifestyle and idolisation of celebrities is embedded into people from a young age, ‘Johnny Galecki’ exemplifies how what you crave can and will eventually destroy you. The lyrics are Juxtaposed with a hypnotic bass hook that entwines with G Funk influenced guitar lines, thudding keys and a deep pocket beat that frames frontman Harry Wainwright Little’s dynamic vocal performance.

Harry on ‘Johnny Galecki’ and upcoming EP Heads Up: “The song forms part of a general theme across the EP of taking current issues and relating them back to oneself, in that only through accepting the pain can we begin to feel happiness and lift our head up to see light through the cracks”

With fuzz fueled ‘Vector’, the whimsical offering of ‘KMIMS’ and impassioned ‘Don’t Act’ that rounds off the EP, showcasing the band’s diverse sound and ability to construct well thought out engaging Indie-Rock tunes.
