Swedish duo Tomode return with new single ‘Out On The Dunes’ – a sunkissed tune that’s sure to make its way on any and all playlists throughout the sunny months. It’s their first release of 2022, and also begins an exciting journey towards second EP Riviera, set to be released later this year. This song will make you wish to be out in the sun. Even this week, where it’s well hot.
Despite the duo – consisting of Carl Leandersson and Viktor Westerberg – existing for only a couple years, ‘Out On The Dunes’ features all the tools of a well-versed act. It centres around a rigid beat of the drum machine, which forms a solid core that allows other instruments to simply let loose around it. Light walls of synthesiser surround the beat like a subtle breeze, creating an atmosphere I’d like to be a part of forever. The vocals are present but buried deep into the mix, adding more melodies to keep the good vibes going.
”With Out On The Dunes, we wanted to create something like a musical postcard from an imaginary place. A sun-soaked beach where the salt from the riviera’s waters gently prickles the skin, the hypnotic melody and billowing synthesizers like a mirage in the distance”, the duo explains.
‘Out On The Dunes’ certainly feels like a little taste from elsewhere, and while it makes me wish to be there in person, it leaves me more than happy to hear this little part of it. It offers nothing but a good time, every time.
