Along with news of a headline UK tour happening later this year, VENUS GRRRLS return with ‘Bloodsick’. Only their second release of 2024, the Leeds band always manage to leave a lasting impression with each single, and their latest is no exception.
Speaking about the new song, vocalist GK says, “Bloodsick describes a change, or a metamorphosis of a being that has become far more insular and isolated. It is a grief of what once was, that transcends into a bittersweet liberation of a new body, or way of living both physically and emotionally.”
Following in the footsteps of ‘Divine’ was always going to be tough, but ‘Bloodsick’ not only brings as much energy and fury as its predecessor, but it also forges its own path. Ready for VENUS GRRRLS to stomp our minds once again. Wasting no time, the song launches into a flurry of nasty, distorted noise. Backed by thunderous drums and lead by GK’s passionate vocals, it’s another song that we reckon would sound insane live.
VENUS GRRRLS continue to release banger after banger. ‘Bloodsick’ is the latest to grace our ears, and also becomes another reason why we really want to hear something more substantial from the band. An EP or album would be very welcome, but until then, we will keep spinning the new single over and over.
